A glimpse into Amish life in the early Twentieth Century. A book in two parts, Till the Cows Come Home covers Lizzie’s teenage years and Hear That Whistle Blow! covers her life after she is married. This small book will give the reader some insight into Amish life before modernization of the world around them. Grandma Lizzie told these stories to the author when the author was a child. Later when Grandma Lizzie was in her nineties she visited the author for a number of weeks and retold some of them again to the author’s children.

This book contains part of the life story of Sam R. and Lizzie Borntrager, who now have hundreds of great-grandchildren and well over a thousand descendants.
